New Moon in Aries: There is a Bravery in Starting New

On April 17th, at 4:50am PST, we will have an Aries New Moon conjunct Chiron. This is the most important New Moon, potentially of the whole year, because it denotes REBIRTH at a time when we have a whopping 7 planets* in Aries, and it is one of this moment in time has no hard aspects to speak of. This is blessed astrology, and something to mark and pay attention to.
Another thing I should note is that I write about “this moment in time” and there is an exact time associated with it. But this moment of time has been building and will separate, while the flavor of the moment will, like a gate being unlocked, open something, change something, make us aware of something. This will happen individually for each of us, and may not even be notable until later. The effects can be subtle or loud, enduring or sharp, but this is the New Moon that sets the dial on the entire zodiacal year.
A New Moon is a conjunction that will merge our consciousness and unconscious selves. Our bodies and egos become one, and with Chiron also there, we see a rebirth with our relationship with pain and wounding. This moment and therefore cycle wants us all to heal something, and use it to heal the world. What that thing is relates to where this happens in your natal chart– and obviously something I can help you with as an astrologer. The house, the aspects, the relationship this spot has to you and your personal blueprint.
Further to this, the Sabian Symbol for 27 degrees Aries is A Large Disappointed Audience
and plays with the idea of being a spectator or observer, shattering of illusions and therefore expectations of a performance, and the inner critic that has us relying on feedback. As we are in the Age of Aquarius, our focus on the collective, and the experience of the throws of Aries energy– it is only fitting that this Sabian Symbol comes to life with these planetary actors. The beginning and seed planting comes to us as an invitation between us versus society, performance versus spectating, disillusionment and the stories we tell ourselves.
Welcome to the new era. The stories we tell ourselves will no longer suffice. We have turned our back on reality long enough, and now reality needs a new dream. Aries is the sign of birth, babies, and war. Creation is messy, but it must be. There is a bravery in starting new, in asserting spiritual fire, in doing what’s right. Aries gets a bad rap for being headstrong, brash, and selfish, but Aries is the energy of the big bang. There is no gentle/pleasing/ chill way to create a new world. And this New Moon (and the days before and after it) is so decidedly Aries, that we cannot help but be selfish, brave, or headstrong. We cannot help but rise to a point of:
I exist. I AM.
This message is our wound but also our healing.
Personally– natally– I have 3 planets and one point in Aries, and the other 4 planets are also conjunct: Neptune, Mercury, Mars, and Saturn gather in the early decan of the sign– all making a sextile to Pluto in Aquarius. Remember that disappointed audience, the community, our world? We must have a vision and purification (Neptune.) We must understand, travel, and communicate that vision in real time (Mercury.) We must drive our energy, and really want it (Mars.) We must be responsible and committed (Saturn.)
This is about: I AM. I exist.
We are on the precipice of another recalibration of our new era. Uranus moves into Gemini for around 7 years in a week. I will write about this in another post, but know that moving through that energy will require the commitment I mentioned above.
This rings very true to me, personally, on the eve of writing this, as I return for a regular checkup on a health issue I am dealing with, that threatens my existence. But tonight, tomorrow, the day after that:
I exist. I AM.
I did not get this far– to only get this far. And neither did you. Spiritual warriors are anointed in the fire. We do not back down, we do what we are on earth to do.
Do not minimize your worth, your contribution. Remember to do your New Moon intentions at some point (hopefully as close to 4:50am as possible.) What part of yourself are you healing and fighting for? Stop looking for positive feedback and really look at who you are and what you bring. What is the future you envision for yourself?
New Moon Blessings

*yes this is shorthand. I could take longer and call the Sun & Moon luminaries, Chiron an asteroid, etc, but for our purposes, these are bodies in the sky, and the shorthand we use is: planets.
