Ouch. A lot happened last week, and especially on New Year’s Eve and Day with that Pluto/Venus conjunction in Capricorn. Capricorn Sun now squares Aries Chiron as if to put a spotlight on our wounding. It’s interesting how we associate Capricorn as the father principle and yet cardinal earth is feminine. This perhaps turns the Adam's rib story on it’s head. I digress- today is an earthy day with sultry and sensual Taurus Moon helping out our Capricornian story.
Remember, Mercury is retrograde in Capricorn, we are in the heart of Capricorn season, and there was that Venus/Pluto conjunction that just happened. How are you experiencing this Capricornian lesson? What’s coming up for you in your Capricornian house(s)? With my DC in Capricorn, I am contending with a lot of 7th house stuff.
Taurus Moon is on the scene to help out Capricorn retrograde Mercury, our sensitive and solid selves are ironing out any communication and cognitive issues arising through Mercury’s backtrack, while keeping us bound and anchored with what’s going on “out there.” With that Chiron wounding, and Pluto/ Venus action, were feelings hurt? Did you hurt someone's feelings? Did someone misunderstand or misread you?
Taurus Moon tries to soothe Capricorn Pluto after all the revelations and epiphanies yesterday. Taurus Moon is solid and has staying power, there is a quiet strength to what it pulls through you. However unnerved you may feel, likely you also feel steady, and ready to keep on. Taurus Moon then walks Venus part way to her new home in Aquarius. She may be shaken, hurt, or obliterated from Pluto. She may also just be sore. But a Taurus Moon emotionally understands Venus and stays with her until they both move into air signs. That’s when the brain activity begins.
With Gemini Moon trining Aquarius Venus, there are some heady evaluations and considerations going on. Cylinders are firing, but is sense being made? There might be some alone time required to parse out emotional reactions and this impulse to connect. Aquarius Venus wants to connect but probably would rather text or be on social media than sit down face to face. There needs to be an element of control and space for this Venus to be her best self. So if you need space, take it.
Tuesday January 3rd
Gemini Moon conjunct Mars @ 8 degrees
Moon conjuncts a still retrograde Mars which could spark some dormant emotional outpouring. Mars needs to move the energy and Moon is linked through the instinctual body. Gemini is chatty, curious, and informed on many topics, but isn’t the best at keeping its mouth shut. Can you put a layer of thought in whatever you’re saying today? Triggers can really bring the worst out of us, and sometimes make us wrong just in how we communicated these valid emotions. The work for us today is to put a layer of time, thought, and compassion between our words and emotions.
Wednesday January 4th
Gemini Moon square Pisces Neptune and trine Aquarius Saturn @ 22 degrees
Anxiety and emotional insecurity might be on the menu today. Gemini Moon deals with duality, intellect and abstract cohesiveness, but it’s ruled by Mercury, currently in retrograde. Mercury is backtracking and causing us to second guess things, making an already erratic mental state, a bit more erratic. Pisces in Neptune guarantees confusion. Can you separate idealism from false prophets? Charlatans from gurus? Aquarius Saturn wants to help direct this in a positive way by laying the smack down with alien wisdom. Aquarius Saturn will show what’s really going on and will have you thinking high-level. Tapping into the saturnian long-view or overarching intentions will help you make sense of confusion and anxiety. Ask yourself: what is the actual goal here? Or: if I wasn’t emotionally invested, what would this look like from the outside?
Thursday January 5th
Cancer Moon square Aries Jupiter @ 1 degree
Capricorn Sun square Taurus Uranus @ 15 degrees
Your need to protect yourself emotionally comes into conflict with your need to initiate and grow. It’s a vulnerable thing to put yourself out there, and enthusiastically try do things you’ve never tried before. Yes, you want to go forth and do things in the world, but it doesn’t mean the world will love you for it. Can you let yourself be a little vulnerable and trust yourself a little more?
The smart and strategic part of you may come into the crosshairs of unexpected and uncomfortable surprises. Taurus loves comfort, predictability, financial security, and nice things while Capricorn is willing to work hard, strategize and take the long way to get those things. Unexpectedness from Uranus will throw a wrench into the trajectory, perhaps even hurting the ego a bit. Some things you just can’t plan for. Being caught off guard or unable to do what you thought you would is not a moral failing. Things happen, and it’s not always your fault. Be compassionate with yourself.
Friday January 6th
Cancer Moon square Aries Chiron @ 12 degrees
Cancer Full Moon opposite Mercury@ 16- 17 degrees
There may be a lot of fear today. The parts of you looking to feel emotionally safe, physically safe will be challenged by the quick burst of Chiron wounding. The wounds can bring up all kinds of fears. Those fears feel very real and there could be a fever pitch with them with the full moon, which also activates Mercury in retrograde. Because this is all happening on the Cancer/ Capricorn polarity, it could be related to your family of origin, old traumas from the past rearing their heads.
Let’s look at the opportunity that this presents. Mothering yourself, becoming your own safety, with your own practices could be a way to work with this energy. Facing the culmination of these fears or finding your own healthy ways of finding emotional safety could be a way of working with this energy. Or “mama bear” could come out of you, regardless of gender or whether you have children, to show you the full power of what is within you to provide safety for others. While this energy guarantees to be emotional, it’s working with retrograde Mercury to show you where your brain activity and communication can help you. Where does your mind go when you are faced with these fears? Do you create a protective shell with words? Do you sidestep what’s happening to pretend it’s not there? Do you run away and hide? Do you grab hold of something and refuse to let go? Mercury offers the opportunity to work through this in your mind and dealings with others. You get to change the story here, or at the very least, shine a light on this deep and emotional field within you.
Cancer Moon is– above all else– a creative energy. What can you create to help you? What kind of space or container can you create for yourself and your feelings? Chances are, the answers to this question has been gestating for the last 6 months, and now it’s time to give birth to the answer. If you are an artist, perhaps this is the time to bring something to form.
Saturday January 7th
Cancer Moon trine Pisces Neptune @ 22 degrees
Capricorn Mercury conjunct Sun @ 16 degrees
Cancer Moon opposite Capricorn Pluto @ 27 degrees
Leo Moon trine Aries Jupiter @ 2 degrees
Capricorn Mercury Trine Taurus Uranus @ 15 degrees
The creative vibe continues as Pisces Neptune gives Cancer Moon some dreamlike confusion to work with as Mercury retrograde disappears into the Sun. Clarity and flashes of insight abound. Cancer Moon then opposes Capricorn Pluto for an emotional transformation. There could be a sharp edge to this opposition, however quick, and can bring up some issues and fears. With Mercury cazimi the Sun, however, this might be easier to understand than usual.
As Moon goes into Leo, and the emotional self and its needs become centre stage, Jupiter in Aries gives impetus and gumption at moving the ideas, goals, and impetus forward. Knowing what you need and want is the most important step to growth. Leo Moon gives us the boldness of identifying what that is.
As Mercury moves further backwards it is helped by Taurus Uranus to say or understand something as never before. Whatever it is, it’s out of character, or a new approach that you aren’t used to, or it’s demanded of you in a way you weren’t completely prepared for. Uranus gives you the courage or gravitas you need to say what needs to be said, or understand what has been missing from the narrative.
Sunday January 8th
Leo Moon opposite Aquarius Venus @ 6- 7 degrees
Leo Moon square Taurus North Node @ 9 degrees
Leo Moon trine Aries Chiron @ 12 degrees
Big feeling Leo Moon does the work today. Leo Moon wants some credit or recognition– there’s a deeply personal need that opposes the emotional need for independence and unconventional connecting. The opposition suggests a desire to connect through technology or within an ethical construct that is bigger than ones’ self. Questions of the personal vs collective seem likely.
When Moon squares the nodes our history and bloodlines come toe-to-toe with our destiny. This is a fixed square that speaks to our form and cores. What is real and built in you, and what will you do with it? Where are you going with that sense of who you are and what’s standing in your way?
Moon gets helped from the wounded healer to know its emotional self. Perhaps under this Leo Moon you will know how to ask for what you need, how to advocate for yourself, and how to heal? That doesn’t mean the uncomfortable feelings aren’t there, it just means that you know better how to manage yourself.
