Astrology Transits for August 6th- 11th: We Are All Going Through Profound Transformation

Well fam, we made it to August. It’s been a very strange summer for me as my new life is still unfolding from the wreckage of last year. Strange and fated things still happen to me, as if to remind me that I’m NOT the captain of any ship, and any desire for me to be efficient and productive will be thwarted by other circumstances, and I need to just be ok with it.

There’s no way of knowing how this year is going to turn out, but there are blessings happening everyday, and how do we even know the difference between a blessing and a problem these days? I recently sprained my wrist, chipped my tooth, my car died on the highway, and my dear friend left town; but who knows what this is supposed to be teaching me? That friend left me their car to drive, my wrist problem has made it difficult to write, or, do anything one does with their dominant hand. But that meant I just relaxed this past weekend– I had no choice. Things fall into place without your hand on the wheel-- it seems.
The month opened with some crunchy energy with squares between Saturn and Neptune retrograde in Aries with Cancer Venus. This likely affected our feelings of safety and identity, our emotions and our energy. There is some lesson about our self in relationship that has been percolating, and this thing about self becomes a major theme this month. This is where we unfurl into August. Today is Wednesday August 6th– and today Mars moves into the air sign of Libra; the sign of Mars’ detriment. Mars here has a harder time being decisive, or taking action, or making commitments while in Venus's sign. Mars is a warrior, and Libra is a peacekeeping mission. Libra is “we.” With this motion into Libra, Mars invokes and stabilizes a grand air trine with Uranus in Gemini, and Pluto in Aquarius. With 2 outer planets boosting Mars’s cause, we’re looking at some creative thought, invention and innovation, some big problem solving and potentially (hopefully) peace initiatives. Mars will be energized at least into conversation. Mars will get his tension and friction from applying an opposition to retrograde Saturn and Neptune in Aries, the sign that Mars rules. This formation with Mars in Libra makes an aspect that is called a kite, and kites are made to elevate and ascend (doi.) So while this impending opposition is tough, it’s going to bring us higher. This kite will last 11 days so you might want to make note of what comes up during this period of time, and what the planets seem to be wanting from your “self.” In this place of cleansing and erosion of some boundaries and inner agreements, we are all going through profound transformation that must be acted upon. All initiation comes from discomfort and friction.
On Friday August 9th we have an exact trine in that kite that perfects, the one between Gemini Uranus and Libra Mars. Trines are easeful and lucky transits that feel especially blessed– and if we notice them at all– it’s because we know how to look. Typically we humans take good fortune and blessings for granted. Uranus will once again bestow surprise, disruption, insight, change. Libra Mars is still deliberating and waffling on what to do, perhaps they can help each other express themselves. What’s the saying?

On Saturday August 9th we have a dynamic Full Moon in Aquarius that perfects as Mars is riding this opposition and perfecting it with both Neptune and Saturn retrograde in Aries. It makes a mystic rectangle between Aquarius Pluto, Aries Neptune and Saturn, Mars in Libra and with the Full Moon nearby. What does this mean? There is lots of contained struggle and tension, that allows for a greater reaction– one that moves us forward. We come to some manifestation, and ideally it brings benefit to all. Even if that means something very basic- in a family or home dynamic. This should happen as an energy felt personally, but it could also benefit the collective. There might be some energy with no place to go, but hopefully we can contain ourselves, and learn from our own dark corners. There is is some mysticism in this configuration that moves us all.
On Sunday August 10th Libra Mars will trine Aquarius Pluto to cause an explosion or fireworks. Two air initiators with different modus operandi both working together to really change the way we perceive our instinctual self, our shadow, and what we hide. This gets into the foundations of our desire. We can do beautiful things with this trine, but of course the opposite can be true if our desires overtake us, or we get greedy.
Monday August 11th is a blessed day indeed, after these days of growth and elevation, with Mercury in Leo stationing direct– finally– after all the mayhem it caused on its backwards journey. The lessons we learned about communication, transportation, learning, and perception will all start to become clearer, as will thinking, understanding, and solving all those problems that cropped up this retrograde season. I am very much looking forward to this day, to be sure.
I digress, with Mercury moving forward, thoughts, ideas, conversations will flow better, and the fire they produce won’t be engulfing. It will be masterful. Then Venus conjuncts Jupiter in Cancer and we have this unified idea of connection, belief, value, vision, hope, and attraction. We have it in a way that feels safe, creative and fiercely protective. Cancer likes to save– so this conjunction can have good financial/wealth energy. Take advantage of what comes easy today, you are being led. This transit also has romantic vibes too. There is a softness to today after so much more challenging and confronting aspects. There is also a beautiful trine to the North Node and Moon conjunct in Pisces. Moon being the ruler of this conjunction, and involving the Node, we know there is some fated business going on today, in this dynamic, astrology. There is a boost, with Mercury done it’s retrospective. Mercury is there to make sure the things we think exist actually do, or if we made them all up in our heads.
Tectonic shifts are moving, literally— on earth, and definitely inside each of us. We are redirecting to where we were meant to go, however clumsily, as we live out this pantomime. And while we do, if we stop fighting it, we might well enjoy it a little. Or— that is the promise, anyway, of being led. Today is a good day to ride this out. The kite is still flying. The mystic rectangle contains us and doesn’t really go away until August 18th. It’s going to be a really interesting week!
Ride the waves my friends, as if there were another choice. Even if it becomes a tsunami. We are on one of the best carnival rides, and it works better if we try to enjoy it.
