Astrology Transits November 6th-12th: This is the Astrologers Dilemma

Samhain was very interesting for me, observationally. I typically don’t come into the “big city” anymore since I work remotely and don't have much of a social life, but I did come in- twice– on Hallow’s eve. This is when they say that the veil is thin. What I noticed, on about 5 separate occasions, was very bad and dangerous driving/ close calls. I had a car that didn't shoulder check and almost plowed into me. I saw this type of mistake, or dangerous moves elsewhere in my travels, pedestrians almost hit, just a host of driving crimes that, on the highway that I drive, could kill someone, or at least seriously injure. I found myself looking at the imaginary camera like I was Jim from the Office.
It got me thinking about how many close calls happen that I don’t observe, or even notice. And how many happen everyday, without our knowledge. It also got me thinking about whether or not this thin veil was showing me how protected I am. How safety, protection, security, all of these things– how much free will do we really have? This is the astrologers dilemma.
An astrologer who leads a chart study group in a community that I’m a part of– recently asked me to comment on the chart of Benito Mussolini. When I saw the chart, I saw everything- power, trauma, control, abuse, a need to solidify the idea of HOME. And that was just what stood out. If I had been asked to read for someone with a chart like that, I’d be immediately concerned about them.
Did Mussolini have a choice in who he became? Well-- many others were likely born at the same time as him– I found a famous poet, a composer– neither known contributors to fascism.. Different Ascendants, however, similar chart. The fact is: Adolf Hitler and Charlie Chaplin had almost identical charts, but they were anchored in a different place, born to different families, in different situations. Where does fate end and destiny begin?
We can’t control how we come into the world. What skills we have or don’t have when we start out. Our early lives will greatly affect who we become. What gender we are born with. Malcolm Gladwell points this out very well in Outliers. Astrology also brings in our karmic debt into the whole mix, to add to this blueprint. This is why there are no good or bad placements. This is one of the many ways that astrology can help you. Life definitely isn’t fair. But if you can understand where you are being led, or in my case, how thin the veil is between life and death (thanks Scorpio season,) it might propel you to do something different, heal some generational trauma, or make some really cool art. Understanding your chart can give you a better appreciation for all the things that are working to keep you alive, fed, working towards a goal.
I’ve talked many times about my “really bad year” in 2024, and I am still integrating it. What I notice now, more than anything, is the red flags that I ignored on my way towards the destruction of my life as I knew it. The hesitancy, the times I almost chose differently. The times I knew one thing, but edged towards confirmation bias because I liked that narrative better. So yes– I was blindsided when the veil was lifted, but the signs were all there. I ignored them because of my attachments, my karma, and my rose coloured glasses. With all the tools of divination and magic at my finger tips, I am still gullible, trickable, and I too can be fooled by my own delusions. I still have karma to burn off.
Coming back to free will. We have some, but only so much IMHO. Our themes, our blueprints are generally already written in the stars. The question is only going to be how deeply we live them, how much we rise to our lessons, and how hard we love while we're here. Here are the time stamps

A few days ago, Mars entered Sagittarius, a fire sign that it is peregrine in. In Sagittarius, Mars is motivated, growth focused, idealistic, and eager in this sign, for better or for worse, and this is a Mars that might run away with itself if not tempered properly. This Mars is not as powerful as it was in Scorpio, but it’s still fiery and motion-oriented, so trust that this is still a great thing to get things done, and maybe with a little more joy and less intensity.
The big news on Tuesday was that Mars’s ingress also caused an opposition with Uranus in Gemini at the critical degree of 0 in both Sagittarius and Gemini. Oppositions usually manifest as relationship issues, and Mars may have instigated new ambition or desires from a seat of disruption or new information. There was a flash of new energy and new impetus born of something that broke, or broke open. Within this energy was also the mounting Full Moon in Taurus which peaked early yesterday morning and had a beautiful intensity to it. So intense that I couldn't get this out until after it passed. There’s all kinds of supporting energy that is angling us towards our relationships with a yod pointed at Venus in domicile in Libra, oppositions galore, and this water trine energy. All to say as there seems to be plan forming through the heavens.
On Thursday November 6th, Venus enters Scorpio, where she’s very determined to possess and play in forbidden waters. This is when fixation, kink reigns supreme and wholesomeness go out the window. It's is also some intense energy to bring into our Grand Water Trine energy. This trine involves Jupiter in Cancer; Saturn, Neptune and the North Node in Pisces, and in a few days, the Sun in Scorpio. This configuration will morph with the parade of planets moving through Scorpio at different intervals. With Scorpio’s personal planets, we’re learning to hone what we really want to the point of obsession. As Bukowski famously said:
Find what you love and let it kill you.
Saturday November 8th we’ve got some big transits as Scorpio Sun trines the North Node, suggesting that something comes to our emotional consciousness that is essentially fated. We are looking at the future, even though Uranus, on this day, returns to the most critical degree of Taurus--29. We will feel this shift back into the density, slowness, and real world economics of the bull. We might have a breakthrough in our finances, our food security, or our sense of comfort, something might break so that we can come to a bigger realization. Pay attention to this last gasp of Uranus in Taurus, especially if you have a Fixed Rising sign or planets at the end of fixed signs. On this same Saturday, Scorpio Venus will make a square to Pluto in Aquarius, which is no small transit either. Whatever your fears are about the group, or where you lay your shame within the collective, you’ll be faced with some really emotional attachments that might challenge this. You may find yourself repeating patterns unconsciously, without even realizing you’re doing it. IF you can come to some consciousness about it today, you win! The first step of getting over something, is to notice yourself doing it. This fixed-yet-explosive relationship (and financial) work is not for the faint of heart, This is a day I wouldn’t be playing around with Bitcoin unless it’s just sitting there. Don’t risk anything you can’t lose.
Sunday November 9th we have Mercury stationing retrograde, so expect delays, miscommunications, missed connections and mistakes in your day to day life, especially if you have prominent mutable placements (Sagittarius, Pisces, Gemini, Virgo.) The day that the planet stations is one of the more compelling days, so remember your grace when things invariably don’t work out. These retrogrades are not the end of the world, I’ve traveled, taught, and published during retrogrades, but you just have to expect things to not go so smooth. Mercury will retrograde back into Scorpio, too, so expect to retrace some steps in the coming days, especially in your through processes, the way you move, and your communications.
On Tuesday, November 11th– Jupiter stations retrograde in Cancer. This will also play around with us when it comes to the Grand Water Trine. We may have a personal relationship with our sense of faith, safety, mother wound, or creativity. This is a long retrograde, going until March 10th 2026, so there is something to review here in your Cancer house– and something to learn about the way you engage socially in the world with others.
Finally, on November 12th, we have Mercury’s conjunction with Mars in Sagittarius, this is a moment when self doubt could get in the way of our desire and will. We may have to temper our big ideas and push towards what we want, but this will be good medicine. Also possible-- is a change of heart or direction, with this energy. However it lands; action and thought will come together, as we maintain that oppositional energy through Uranus in Taurus. Something is building tension, and we might have some healing to do. Ultimately, we are changed, and we continue to change. We are not the same people that we were a year ago. Something has forged, and our dreams are different. This is by design.
All of this astrology, however potent or poignant, it really is second fiddle to the beneficial energy in the skies with a minor triangle with Pluto, Uranus, Neptune and Saturn. And the Grand Water Trine with Jupiter, Sun, Neptune, and Saturn. The gods are making it easy for us to dream, heal, and work on our deepest spiritual values. Despite tense and aimless moments, we are HELLA supported right now, just not in the ways we likely want. We are supposed to be dreaming of something better, more connected, more equitable, and easeful. Don't let all this change and jarring newness convince you that you can't know love, safety or compassion. We are on an earth ship hurdling through space, and it’s time we surrendered to our destinies. What’s coming up for you as we start to conclude 2025?
