Dearest comrades, how I’ve missed you all and writing about the sorcery of the sky.
In my new budding life, I don’t always have the bandwidth I wish to have, but I still carry the attachment to details and specifics that make me overwhelm myself into a pickle.
My 3 week break from this writing space was awesome, although I did carry a sense of incompleteness without having delivered a weather report from some pretty significant changes.
You may have noticed that these last 2 weeks have carried some beautiful energy? Did things go RIGHT for once, or were you pleasantly surprised? Did you feel an energy shift? Gemini season is usually much more social than its predecessors in the zodiacal wheel (Aries and Taurus,) there’s more chatting, there’s more ideas being exchanged. On June 6th, Venus entered Taurus, which is her domicile, making her sensual attractiveness and ability to bring value to the table– effortless. Venus in Taurus is concretely beneficial, bringing weight and esteem to conversations and bank account. June 8th and 9th had both Mercury and Jupiter conjunct in the last degree of Gemini before both planets ingressed into Cancer.
Cancer is an intuitive, highly creative sign that works hard to create a safe container. Mercury- which is the way we think, learn, and communicate, takes an intuitive approach to the way it moves, shakes, and discusses. It’s artistically minded, and potentially focused on the home, the mother figure, family, or topics related to such things.
This is a strong theme this month with Jupiter also entering this terrain, in a space that it’s exalted in. Jupiter brings expansion, much-ness, and growth to anything it touches, so the area of your chart ruled by Cancer will see MAJOR growth here for the next year. That’s right, Jupiter only moves signs once a YEAR so this is a heroic dose of Cancer vibes before us. With those topics: safe home, mother figure, family, creativity, and our “babies,” be them plants, animals, creations, whatever– all coming into focus.
Emotions also come into focus. Cancer is often mocked for being a crying sign. As if tears weren’t a natural mechanism of our animal response. As if emotions should be suppressed when deeply felt.
Fuck that noise.
Feelings should be felt so that they can be released, and Cancer inherently knows that.
June 11th had a bold and inspired Full Moon in Sagittarius, bringing us to some kind of fullness or harvest with something that started back in Sagittarius season, around the New Moon. For me it was beautiful, optimistic, and hopeful (pretty Sagittarian in general) merging a few key concepts about my daily practice together. It inspired me-- which is a big win for Full Moon energy, especially for someone *Moon-ruled as myself.

That brings us to the day I write this: Sunday June 15th. I have been plagued by a war between my fortitude, my body’s needs, and my desire to kick ass. Kicking ass seems more and more like something that I’m going to have to work with my body, rather than conquering it. Caring for my sacred vessel, keeping it safe to contain me– seems to fit very nicely into this Cancerian theme, because Cancer rules my Ascendant and my 1st house- the house of the physical body, identity, and appearance. Sleep is going to have to factor much more into my plans. What’s coming up for you?
Today we are coming off square energy between Mars in Leo and Taurus Uranus first, and then Cancer Jupiter and Aries Saturn next. Squares are frustrations and the first one is in fixed signs, giving us the energy of wanting to direct our desire outward, but something surprises us, or redirects us in order to fine tune our compass. The second square is in cardinal signs: meaning that we are moved in this energy, between the expanse of our impulse to nurture and our impulse to GO. There’s a hurry-up-and-wait, go-go-go-go-go-STOP, foot on brake and foot on the gas kind of vibe today, and this full frustration is meant to help us find our direction.
On Tuesday June 17th Mars, after a really long retrograde period through Cancer and Leo, finally leaves the sign of the lion for Virgo, the sign of the scientist. We have had a Cancer or Leo Mars since last September 4th 2024. Finally this changes today as he makes his bold entrance with a sextile to Jupiter in Cancer and separating that square with Uranus in Taurus, now in the last anaretic degree of 29. Mars is our will and desire, and in Virgo it will pull apart the details and categorize, organize, analyze, and perfect. We’re into the weeds and the details with what we want and where our energy is going. Virgo might seem critical or perfectionist, but it is always in service to humanity, and this impulse is tangible, and real. Since Virgo is concerned with health and wellness routine, we may want to start a new regimen. Virgo also buries itself in work, since it likes to feel in service, and with Mars here, we might see an overzealous display of work ethic. Mars will be here until August 6th, so we have time to use this exacting energy for its best purposes.
For the next few days, between Tuesday June 17th to Friday June 20th– we have some highly beneficial energy involving two minor triangles and two yods (finger of God)– as the threshold we walk through into the sacred solstice. It’s such beautiful energy and involves pretty heavy hitter planets, all outer and social planets, those which we have little to no control over. This is some big blessing vibe– that points us to what we are committed to and take responsibility for, as well as what our consciousness thrives on. The energy will bring to light these fundamental things and focus our attention on them, but also Neptune will be there with Saturn in Aries, obfuscating and dissolving some structures in the wake of this beneficial vibe. Sun in Gemini makes an out-of-sign applying conjunction to Jupiter in Cancer in the other triangle, so we are seeing our beliefs change, and refine at the same time that our priorities and commitments do. Our actions and desire with Mars in Virgo then become the apex of a yod– formed through a sextile between Saturn and Neptune in Aries and Pluto in Aquarius. Again. The way we spend our energy in this period leading up to solstice is significant because Pluto also becomes the apex of a yod involving a sextile between Mars and Gemini Sun conjunct Cancer Jupiter. Yods carry the energy of Chiron, there is a hurt but there is divinity through the apex.
The basic message, if none of this makes sense, is that this is a highly blessed and significant period to pay attention to. Your presence is needed, and your inner check ins will serve you well. Guidance is there for you.
With summer or winter solstice/ Sun’s ingress into Cancer we have a new season of focus on home, family, safety, nurturing our babies, emotional intuition, and mother archetype and lineage. This is powerfully deep water, the kind of water that senses danger approaching–days early. The kind of water that keeps records and memories sacred so there is proof of what happened. Those minor triangles remain even as the Sun changes sign. The womb of humanity's creations is upon us with this powerful Cancer energy.
On July 22nd, Cancer Sun will perfect a square with Aries Saturn. Both are applying a conjunction to another planet– in the Sun's case, it’s Jupiter, and in Saturn’s case, it’s Neptune. That’s an interesting stamp of energy to frustrate; one is about dissolving structures and boundaries in identity, another is about expanding beliefs and focus on home and family, in an emotionally intuitive way. This is an initiation of some sort because it’s a cardinal square, and this frustration is leading us somewhere new.
What have you noticed that is working in your life, and is life showing you a path that you never anticipated? What remains frustrating?
How is your focus on home and family changing? What events of life feel fated? What is dissolving? What are you throwing your commitment behind?
Truth be told, there are more changes coming, there is more confusion on the menu, and there are more decisions to be made. We are all facing huge world orders, questions about identity, our role in the collective, lessons about the world we are building. We are all finding our way in the dark together, and not everyone we love will be with us all the way to our destination. Love hard as you figure yourself out, and take good care of your most cherished relationships. We need each other to weave the fabric that supports the new world.
