Astrology Transits for the rest of July: Leo Season Promises Some Sizzles

Leo season promises some big things, dear friends.
The high drama that brought us Coldplay kiss cam had Uranus written all over it. This was a warm up. Around the time that this happened, Mercury was already in Leo, and about to station retrograde. (Leo= being seen, drama, being on stage. Mercury: knowledge, understanding, learning) Mercury is the lord of the house (Gemini) that Uranus just moved into. Uranus is a transpersonal planet that is more concerned with humanity’s story arc, than our personal ones. Uranus brings disruption, revolution, surprise, and non-linear change. Randomness is part of Uranus’s signature, and at 0 degrees Gemini, there’s a very pure expression of it. Gemini is a social planet, it governs the “buzz” and the social movement of our words. Uranus governs social media, and Gemini will deal with how each of us interacts with it.
We are now, as of the 22nd of July, in Leo season, where the Sun (consciousness) is in its most powerful and comfortable sign. Bring on the spotlight and therefore the drama. Mercury is also currently retrograde in this sign, challenging our communications, thought processes, lessons understanding, and local transportations. Mercury in retrograde also causes disruptions.
The teachable moments of the kiss cam? Was it a cautionary tale about what we do in public, the epic viral velocity of the internet? Was it about the hubris of CEO’s, the morality of cheating, or how to act when you are caught doing something wrong?
Do we need to talk about the fact that we can find ourselves on camera at any given moment? Is this about the business ethics of a CEO fraternizing with HR, and the morality of organizational behavior? Or is this about our own deviant natures, as a collective- the salacious glee we take in catching people in the act, in public?
Whatever it was– like with anything mainstream– Coldplay is centred here in all its mediocre glory– to point the whole thing out to us and so we all could have a teachable moment. We are pointing the finger at ourselves, really. We are all secretly relieved that a spotlight and camera didn’t catch us in a moment where we were wrestling with our own shadow. The time we fell prey to some attachment issues operating from trauma rather than our best selves. There’s something especially heinous about being exposed to the general public. Shadenfreud is often more about relief than anything else.
The Leo drama was coming even before the Sun hit Leo, and now we are in Leo SZN and we are going to have some big lessons around how we are seen.
Those field lights coming from helicopters in the dark– trying to find the escapee running on foot: it’s overly bright, and the intense light from them has a “prison” vibe to it? Think about this Leo season’s spotlight as that. There’s some spicy social chai being served up this summer, and we are going to have to tussle with the attention we get versus the attention we want.
Whenever we group together to enjoy another person’s demise, we all make ourselves vulnerable to the same fate. If someone is publicly kicked out of the village, how do they recover? Where do you go when you feel exposed to the world? When you feel yourself become an abstraction, and not a person, some theme, or myth, but not actually you?
The power of us can be catastrophic, if you are just one person. I had a taste of that last year, and it almost broke me. Also: I shared a LOT of those kiss cam memes online. I am as much a part of the problem as anyone else. I felt like I had the right to laugh and share, because I very much know what it is like to be on the other side. And truthful, because I am still on the other side, dealing with all of that. Shadenfreud involves some degree of empathy to really dig in deep.
Leo season promises some sizzles. The Sun is in his domicile, making a lovely sextile to Uranus in Gemini. We can expect more drama, leaders being exposed. There will be conversation, talk, pollination. There will be buzz, disruptions, and quakes. I will say for myself, I am currently in mid reverse Mercurial crisis, as everything related to communication and transportation in my life is popping off. My car died in the middle of the highway, and things are not looking that great in my tech/communication related day job. But let’s drill down on the rest of the month– here are the timestamps.

Wednesday July 23rd’s square between Gemini Venus and Virgo Mars will make something annoying and frustrating. There’s points and opinions being made, and there’s somebody who is right but who is it? Mutable squares bestow some changing, and transformational energy: this is like an initiation. Conversations between the masculine and the feminine may have some friction. Venus wants things light and breezy and Mars will be efficient and practical. There will be some frustration about who carries what load.
On Thursday July 24th we have a pretty interesting New Moon, opposing Pluto! Wow- this is some powerful, dramatic, artistic, and explosive energy for an ending/beginning.
What a birthing into consciousness!
There is an annihilation coming for this New Moon that cannot be stopped, and this one might hurt. But understand, some things have to be stopped. This opposition is speaking to our psyches and to our overall understanding of who we are in the collective. It comes into our social structures, and how we communicate. How will we be leaders, and where is this leading? What do we want to build? What are we capable of building?
At the other side of this New Moon is a minor triangle involving Uranus, Saturn, and Neptune, and this beneficial energy is part of our compass for this new Moon. Saturn and Neptune in Aries are really working us through our identity as we have to learn how the time we spend and commit is actually part of our identity. We might have some breakthroughs that help us understand ourselves and the actual vibe we are going for.
There is a genesis point here with the Sun in his throne and the Moon in Sun’s domain. This is a birth of consciousness that is very important, this is a precise moment in time. All the outer planets, except Jupiter in Cancer, are aspecting this New Moon.
Why is this important? You might be moved into a position, an altercation or dynamic with someone, and this is the place where a cycle ends and begins.
This is a day to have great hair. Lead with heart, and lead with intention. This is a day to do you in the brazen Sun, and connect with your own guidance. The spells you cast today have legs. Rem
On Wednesday July 30th, Chiron stations retrograde in Aries and that means this day might bring up some wounding around how and what we identify with, and how we are healing that. It’s important work for all of us. Becoming someone is a really hard, messy process. Our elders just give us the best from their generation, and unknowingly– they also give us their worst. Chiron is a bridge between our existing self and all the voices that made us. Chiron teaches us where we are wounded and where we can heal humanity. Chiron’s journey backward is a guidance of this wound, that we carry from very far back. It’s a wound that we can’t quite name because we can’t remember ourselves before we received it. The wound is so deeply cemented into our psyche. Chiron’s station retrograde will inflame the wound, but also the healing. Whatever hurts so much, we feel it in our DNA, that is the key to our role. It is a wound that almost has its own voice within us, and it is how we know to make the world better. We will have a course today in recognizing something like this, and it may come out in an unexpected way, and we might have to sit with this for a while. This is happening while the Moon opposes, suggesting there could be some relationship tension that brings this forth, while Pluto still opposes the Sun and Mercury retrograde.
This day could be crunchy, with a lot of square and opposing energy going on, everyone should watch their words, and speak what they truly intend. This energy is best filtered through integrity. A big part of integrity is your commitment to yourself, first and foremost.
This same day, Venus enters Cancer. This is an emotional, connective Venus which rules our values, connections, and attachments. We will do well to focus and connect with family members, with sensitivity, and emotional intelligence. There’s moodiness in the mix here, and creativity is a divine pathway for this energy.

What is appropriate– and for whom?
It is appropriate to shelter in place and to focus on your container. Connect with your foundational world, and nurture it, because it is what holds you. It’s easy to let things slide when we have so much AIR energy in the cosmos and we live in our heads; we must come back home to assess the environment we are creating for ourselves. The basin that holds our water– the place we live in and our body. Venus will be in Cancer until August 25th so we will be exploring who and what is safe– emotionally– and how we can creatively work with our passionate field, for this transit.
On Thursday, July 31st, things get really interesting and we have Mercury cazimi in the Sun, seated in his throne. Mercury is retrograde so there is a big teachable moment, but also a fusion of ideas, understandings, and cognition coming down the pipe. Leo rules the heart and the Sun here will anchor your heart's language and motion. This is happening with the separating opposition to Pluto, so there is still some dust-up, fight, and impetus forming around how we are seen, what is revealed, and what no longer works. This could be dramatic and our words should be heartfelt, but understand that there’s something that needs to come to light here. I will also mention that there is more hard energy that is filtered through newly Cancerian Venus at 0 degrees. Pure maternal, creative, and protective energy. Saturn and Neptune are applying an opposition that is currently out of sign to Mars in Virgo. This is quite a T square forming, as well as a kite with these players. What does this mean?
Events leading up to and following this day may have big challenges, relational issues, thwarting, drama, and emotions. You’ll be well served by taking responsibility for your emotional behaviour, and communicating your needs. You’ll be well served by committing to your own authentic self, even if the pressure, desire, and energy wants you to be perfect. If tears and fears come, this is a mechanism of something working well, and something to be explored once the storm has passed. Find a safe place to process emotion if you can (even if it has to be a bathroom stall for a few minutes.) It is worth it to pull over in the car, if you are overwhelmed with anger or grief. Some BIG emotion is set to spill during this period.
Emotional regulation practices can be reviewed and practiced beforehand. Arm yourself with what you need to be the person you want people to see when you are being filmed without your consent. Be the person who does the right thing when no one is looking. We all test the limits and make mistakes, and do the wrong thing sometimes, but today is a day to be extra careful about that. Try and keep your consciousness aware, and look out for hidden cameras. Those floodlights are unforgiving. And we are all imperfect.
