March 25th: South Node Lunar Eclipse in Libra: We Don’t Replace the Old Flowers, we Plant New Ones

Garden beds ready for planting.
Pure potential.

On March 25th at the stroke of midnight, we have a South Node Full Moon eclipse in Libra at 5 degrees. This opens up an eclipse portal of two weeks where the VHS button is on fast forward and things start to really move until the portal closes with the second, Solar, New Moon eclipse in Aries at 19 degrees on April 8th. Things that happen in this portal will be part of your new beginning.

If you have planets or angels between 0 and 10 degrees of Libra, Cancer, Capricorn or Aries, this eclipse will be especially potent for you.

I’ve said many times that we are getting worked in our relationships. The North Node is beckoning us to our future karma and direction, and it is on an individual level. The South Node is Libra. Our deep-seated relationship patterns, our sense of equilibrium with people in our world, is kicking up. It is a “I am” versus “we are” showdown. We are being asked to move towards our identity and individuality in this 18 month lesson. But that individuality and identity should feed our relationships, it’s not either/or, it’s how can I be me in a we?

This eclipse will bring a final release of something. There is an outcome, or eventuality that comes to light. Whatever relationship work you’ve been doing, something is going to present itself to you to deal with and expel. Libra has an idea of fairness, beauty, and balance. But harmony at what cost? Libra is beautiful because it allows us to find the equilibrium between us, but that does put pressure on us as individuals. Do we operate from this idea of who we are or from who we have agreed to be together? How is it working?

Sacrifices have been made, and that’s normal. That’s relationships. But maybe there’s something you can’t ignore about yourself that needs to upset this balance, or recalibrate it? The Sabian symbol for this degree of Libra is A person watches their ideals taking a concrete form before their inner vision. Was your ideal vision really what you wanted, or did you take time to really think about what you want? Did you fall into this relationship and adjust, or were you intentional about what you wanted? Did this relationship start from an old script?

This eclipse is supported by a trine from Pluto in Aquarius at 1 degree. Pluto is bringing up themes for freedom, and change, by pulling up what has been underground, and destroying that which can’t come forward. Pluto’s job is to transform you and all of us, as we move into this new age. This is assistance energy, here to kick off two weeks of accelerated growth. But first, we have to let things go.

South Node lunar eclipses have a final end involved. This doesn’t have to be the end of a relationship, but it can be. It might be the end of a pattern, symbol, or logistic that intertwines the relationship. This is kicking off two weeks that will end in a North Node Solar eclipse, where you will be ask to embrace change and growth, to leave what is comfortable behind and embrace a new beginning. Depending on where you sit with this, you may feel inspired and excited to see the old thing go, or very sad. Or a combination of both. There’s no one right way to feel, but in general– we humans fear endings. We forget that we weed out the garden bed so that new flowers can grow. We fertilize it, and prepare the bed, and for a while, it’s just a pile of dirt. But we know, over time, something will emerge from it, something equally or potentially more beautiful. We don’t replace the old flowers, we plant new ones.

What are you ready to let go of? What are you ready to see about your relationships? What can’t come with you into the future? What are you learning about yourself?

What can anchor you during a time of accelerated change? Is there a mantra you can hold within? A tarot card for your altar? A picture that inspires you? Love that hurts, but is still strong because it’s love?

I’ll be back with Part 2 of eclipse season writing soon enough. For now, take care of yourself, and those you love, with a mighty heart.
